At Intentional Spaces, we are committed to fostering an environment where every client feels safe, respected, and empowered to seek the mental health care they deserve. We believe that equitable and inclusive care is a fundamental human right, and we stand firmly against any policies or rhetoric that undermine the dignity and well-being of marginalized communities, including the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC communities, women, and transgender individuals.

With the recent election of the Trump Administration, we are profoundly concerned about policies announced that directly threaten the rights and safety of many of our clients. Statements from Trump’s campaign have included pledges to roll back essential protections, such as restrictions on transgender rights, reductions in healthcare options for women, and an overall erosion of the separation of church and state that could affect policies on everything from healthcare to marriage equality. These actions are not aligned with the principles of inclusive, ethical, and effective healthcare that guide our practice.
The proposed restrictions on LGBTQ+ rights, immigrants, women’s healthcare, and transgender healthcare pose a direct challenge to our commitment to serve all individuals equitably. We stand in opposition to any legislation or administrative actions that limit our clients’ access to necessary, affirming, and supportive healthcare services. The Trump Administration’s proposed policy changes for a limited definition of gender, based on assigned sex at birth, threatens to erase the identities of transgender and non-binary people from federal protections—an approach we cannot and will never endorse or support.
We are steadfast in our commitment to continue advocating for policies that protect our clients’ rights to access comprehensive and non-judgmental care. We believe in the importance of separating personal religious beliefs from public policy to ensure that healthcare remains a space of inclusion, not exclusion. Protecting women’s, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ rights is crucial for the integrity of our work as mental health professionals and our responsibility to offer a safe space for healing and growth.
At Intentional Spaces, we will remain a sanctuary for anyone seeking support, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, or personal beliefs. We will advocate for the mental health and healthcare rights of every individual and continue providing care that upholds every person’s dignity, safety, and self-determination.
